You read a headline like this and you’re expected to get puffed up with indignation about the state of the NHS. You’re invited to make assumptions on how well run our hospitals are, how well the staff are trained, whether the hospitals have enough money. But that I think would be shortsighted. How do we not know that this isn’t a touching story about resourceful nursing staff fashioning a gown of sorts out of a pillowcase for an incredibly tiny man with issues about having his Harris exposed? Answer: We don’t.
